How to Choose a Wedding Photographer and Videographer in Italy
A practical way to define your style, compare like-for-like proposals, and check that your photo and video team fits your Italian wedding.

Start with a useful brief
Before contacting professionals, gather the details that genuinely affect the service.
Include the region and location, exact date or season, estimated guest count, wedding schedule, and venue address. Also mention whether you want coverage for a welcome party, dinner, or other weekend events.

Review complete work, not only highlights
A curated portfolio shows a visual language, but not always the consistency of the full service. Ask to see one or two complete galleries, ideally from weddings with similar light, size, and setting.
Look at how the photographer handles candid moments, portraits, details, and the party. If you want an editorial documentary style, check that the work is not made up almost entirely of directed poses.

Compare proposals on the same basis
A standalone price is difficult to assess. Send the same brief to every candidate and ask for an itemised proposal.
Check how many hours are included, how many professionals will attend, and what you will receive and in which format. Clarify whether albums, a second photographer, aerial footage, a teaser, ceremony audio, travel, and accommodation are included or excluded.

Check the details before signing
Ask who will actually attend on the wedding day and whether the work will be carried out by the named professional or by an associate. For an international wedding, also consider the language used for meetings and coordination with the venue.
Read the contract carefully. It should clearly cover the service, payment schedule, postponement or cancellation, image usage, deliverables, and unexpected situations. For any legal or administrative requirement involving filming, drones, or access to specific places, validate the exact case with the venue and the competent authority.
